MissionFrequently Asked QuestionsIs the Foundation a nonprofit organization?
No. We are based in the Washington DC Metro area but our fundraising efforts stretch across the country and around the world. Can I raise money for the Foundation? Yes. We are grateful to supportive people throughout the country who raise money for us through benefits, auctions, marathon sponsorships, etc. Unfortunately, due to the fact that we have a small staff , we are unable to provide direct logistical or personnel support outside of the fundraising events organized in-house. When you send us the funds you've raised, please include information about your event so that we can publish it on our website. What kind of fundraiser's have you held? As a newly created foundation, our plans for fundraising events are in the formation stage. We are excited about finalizing these plans and announcing them in the near future to the general public. Can I come to a fundraiser? We will be publicizing our future fund raising events and welcome the participation of people who are passionate about raising funds for organ transplant research. From time to time there will be part time volunteer positions in the Washington DC area. These positions will be posted on our website. How can I make a donation? Donations are gladly accepted by mail, by telephone, and online. For more information, see the Help section of our Web site. Can I make a donation in honor or in memory of someone? Absolutely. For more information, see the Help section of our Web site. Do you have a matching grant program? We currently do not have a formal program. However, we do encourage our corporate donors to publicly disclose their donations to the Foundation. Some of them may have specific matching programs that can be applied to individual employees' donations. How much money has the Foundation given to research so far? We launched our fundraising efforts on February 10, 2006. To this point no money has been offered to any organ transplant research organization. How much of the money donated actually goes to research? The Foundation is staffed entirely by volunteers. Aside from minimal administrative expenses all funds received (above the cost of fund raising events) will be distributed directly to organizations involved in organ transplant research (such as TBRC). At the end of the year, data will be available which will detail the total amount raised and dispersed as well as Foundation expenses. |
