
Crock-Pot Pasta Sauce
Don’t neglect your veggies during these desolate winter months. If you’re looking for a way to avoid the Harmful 7 and enjoy a family favorite, try making a batch of this Crock-Pot Pasta Sauce. You and your kids can keep enjoying the foods you love while still keeping up your New Year’s Goals.
Here’s what you’ll need:
2 28 oz can crushed tomatoes with basil
2 14.5 oz can fire roasted tomatoes
1/2 yellow onion, diced
4 cloves minced garlic
2 Tbs fresh basil, chopped
2 Tbs fresh parsley
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp salt
Optional – add shredded carrots, chopped fresh bell peppers, mushrooms or any of your favorite veggies for an added nutritional boost
Directions:
1. Toss everything in the crockpot, stir, and cook on low for 4 hours
2. We suggest enjoying this sauce with some lean ground turkey and zucchini noodles or spaghetti squash!
