
Homemade Barbecue Sauce
A summer staple in your refrigerator may be a bottle of barbecue sauce, but have you ever read the ingredient label? You may be surprised to find some of the Harmful 7 lurking in that long list. This Homemade Barbecue Sauce will do the trick.
Ingredients:
1/2 onion, finely diced
3 cloves minced garlic
1 Tbsp olive oil
6-oz can tomato paste (be sure to check the label for a non-BPA lining and recognizable ingredients)
2 Tbsp liquid aminos
5 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
4 Tbsp raw honey
3/4 cup water
1 tsp cumin
1 Tbsp chili powder
1/2 tsp oregano
1//4 tsp cayenne pepper
Directions:
- Saute onion, garlic and olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat until translucent
- Reduce heat to low and whisk in remaining ingredients
- Allow mixture to simmer for 5 minutes
- Remove from heat and enjoy
Recipe tip:
Eliminate any small pieces of onion by blending the cooked sauce in a food processor for a smooth version of this homemade barbecue sauce
