Rhubarb Barbecue Sauce

Most Barbecue sauces are loaded with the Harmful 7. You can find High-Fructose Corn Syrup, Artificial Colors & Flavors and Artificial Preservatives in many of these store-bought sauces. Try our Sweet & Spicy Rhubarb Barbecue Sauce that will put the store-bought stuff to shame. It’s free of the Harmful 7, and perfect for grilling season.

Here’s what you’ll need:

5 large rhubarb stalks
1 sweet yellow onion, chopped
2 cloves minced garlic
15 oz can tomato sauce
6 oz can tomato paste
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
4 Tbs pure maple syrup
1 Tbs smoked paprika
1/2 Tbs chili powder
2 tsp black pepper
2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

Directions:

  1. Simmer onion, garlic, and rhubarb for about 10 minutes, or until everything is soft.
  2. Blend everything in a food processor or blender.
  3. Add mixture back to pan along with the remaining ingredients.
  4. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
    Note: This batch makes about 32oz, so you can enjoy it all summer long, give it away as gifts, or host a barbecue party.
