A Community Approach to Bike Safety

Safe riding starts with education. 🚲💙

This past weekend, Life Time Miami at The Falls hosted University of Miami's WalkSafe and BikeSafe Programs to educate local families on the importance of bike safety. Together with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, KiDZ Neuroscience Center, Life Time Miami at The Falls, the Florida Department of Transportation, and the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, we are empowering kids to ride safely for life.

This event featured a cycling course in a safe and protected environment, designed to simulate actual roadway situations commonly encountered by bicyclists. Kids built confidence while learning critical bicycle handling and safety skills, including signaling, scanning for traffic, making turns, avoiding hazards, safely entering roadways, and balancing. Teaching kids' healthy movement and activity is important, but we must prioritize safety.

Building confidence through movement is essential for children's development, and biking is a powerful way to achieve that. When kids master new skills, they develop not just physical capability, but also the self-assurance they need to navigate the world safely and independently.

A huge thank you to Life Time Miami at The Falls for hosting this great event and thank you to everyone who helped bring this incredible community event to life!
